Frequently Asked Mini Photo Session Questions
What’s the difference between a mini portrait session and a premium portrait session?
The main difference between the two is the length of the photo session and location options. Because mini photo sessions are scheduled back to back on specific pre-arranged dates, there’s a twenty minute time limit for each session. Premium photo sessions can last anywhere from an hour to two hours. Mini sessions are usually scheduled in parks and at beaches around the Bay Area and premium photo sessions can be at your house or any location you like.
How long are the mini photo sessions?
Mini portrait sessions are scheduled back to back with other families on the same day and last 20 minutes. Because I want to make sure to get as many great photos during your session as possible, please make sure to give yourself a little wiggle room on timing by getting there a few minutes early.
What’s the fee for the mini photo sessions?
The sitting fee is $100 and includes the photo session, post-production of your images (that’s the time consuming part!), and your online image gallery. Digital images are sold separately.
*What packages do you offer?
To get your images to you as quickly as possible, I’m now offering digital image packages for mini sessions instead of prints. Once you’ve ordered your digital package, I’ll go back through to make sure your photos are polished and ready to print and then I’ll send you a link to download your high resolution images directly to your computer.
Getting your digital images means that you can print as many photos as you like in whatever sizes you want. This gives you an enormous amount of flexibility and frees you from having to make the final decision about sizes and quantities when you place your order. Want to make 120 copies of your favorite photo and send it to all of your people? No problem! The images are yours to do with as you please.

When and where can we see the photos?
Photos from the mini sessions will be posted on my online proofing page (password protected) within ten days of the photo session and will stay online for one week.
Online photo galleries allow you to easily view and order your images and share them with your favorite people.
I like the idea of having the digital images, but I don’t really know what to do with them once I get them. Can you give me some advise?
I really love the idea of my clients having the digital images because I want you to own the image and not just one piece of paper. But that definitely doesn’t mean that I want you to take them down to Walgreens (unless you happen to be in a huge hurry and have a great excuse for it) to get mediocre prints made (sorry, Walgreens- I do love your shampoo and fingernail clippers, but your prints sometimes leave something to be desired). When you purchase the digital images, I’ll provide you with lab suggestions and printing instructions. There are a lot of great labs out there now that will deliver your prints right to your door without you ever leaving the house.
Once you’ve placed your order, you’ll also have the option to order prints directly from my professional photo lab for the lab prices.
What should my child wear?
Fun accessories are great. Got a cute hat with ears on it or a bright scarf? Bring it! Does your little boy prefer to wear his Superman costume rather than regular clothes? Well, if you like it, let him wear it. I love costumes.
It’s best to avoid busy logos or t-shirts with writing on them as they have a tendency to date a picture, but other than that, just choose something you’d like to see in the photos. Bright colors and textures are great too.
What should I bring with me?
If your child has a particular toy that makes her smile, please bring it along. Toys that make noise are great for smaller children. And a favorite stuffed animal can be a big help for children that are shy and don’t want to take photos alone.
Do you take color or black and white photos?
Both. I use a digital camera, so all of the photos are originally color, but I’ll add some black and white versions of your photos to your gallery and you’ll have the option to choose black and white for any photo you like when ordering.
What happens if it rains?
Hopefully on the day of your photo shoot, the weather will be perfect! But if it’s raining, we can always reschedule.
